Now is time for the great debate about energy drinks and coffee and the similarities and differences between the two. First lets start off with amounts of caffeine a cup of coffee and an energy drink have on average. Believe it or not, a cup of coffee has actually more caffeine on average than a typical energy drink does. What that means is that it releases more of a shock to the central nervous system and raise your heart rate to a higher degree than an energy drinks do. Even though coffee contains more caffeine than the leading energy drink, energy drinks still have higher amounts of sugar in them. Even if you add sweetener to a cup a coffee, it would still contain less amount of sugar. But energy drinks are much more than just caffeine, they also contain a combination of amino acids, vitamins and other herbs. Another key difference between the two is that coffee is all natural, energy drinks are often laced with artificial preservatives and dyes. So in the end, you just have to take the good with bad and essential pick your poison.
